Description
I painted this after my osteopath told me I have “Religious Woman Posture”. The exact specifications vary for each person but for me it manifests in stooped shoulders, my head slightly bowed, and a shuffle rather than a normal graceful walk. I guess it’s because my whole life I’ve been told not to attract attention. Not to stand out. Not to take up space.
But when did we decide that men are not human? When did we decide that men are animals with no control over their impulses? When was it determined that men don’t have free choice? That it is us, the women who cause them to sin?
And yet in this same posture is defiance, a strength, a truth. Standing tall and strong and leaning forward, ready to share a secret. The Woman.
